Introduction¶
The Orchestration tool is designed to help you easily create and activate customer audiences based on segmentation criteria. It allows you to efficiently build, manage, and automate campaigns that engage your members in a targeted and relevant way.
This user manual will help you get familiar with Orchestration. An intro video is available here Segmentation intro video ↗️
Orchestration connects to the Lobyco Retail Data Platform, enabling the use of core customer data such as membership, purchase, product, and store information.
With this data, you can:
- Build segments using drag-and-drop functionality with attributes like demographics, purchases, mobile app behavior and feature usage.
- Orchestrate campaigns in an intuitive canvas that connects your audiences with app features such as games, offers, feed posts and push notifications.
- Schedule and automate campaigns to run once or on a regular basis, reducing manual effort and ensuring timely engagement. For example:
- Send a personalized communication to customers who signed up today.
- Weekly send a “thank you” voucher to customers who spent more than 100$ during the last week.
- Access campaign run history, making it easy to track and follow up on previous runs.
There are two environments available for you to use:
- Production – the live version of Orchestration that works with production data.
- Pre-Production (demo) – the demo version of Orchestration that can be used for testing purposes.
Login by using your Azure Active Directory identity.
You can use any browser, but you must allow pop-ups when using the application, as these are required for authentication.
Key concepts¶
There are some key concepts that you need to understand while working with Orchestration.
Segment¶
A segment is a group of filter criteria defined by combining available attributes.
When executed, a segment provides a list of member IDs (membership numbers) of customers who meet the segmentation criteria.
A segment can be:
- Created as a stand-alone from the Segments list for later use in campaigns.
- Built on-the-fly directly in the campaign canvas.
Segments make it possible to work with specific groups of customers, such as:
- Members who purchased a specific product.
- Customers with recent app activity.
- Shoppers who reached a certain spend threshold.
More information about segments is provided in the section "How to manage saved segments".
Segmentation attributes¶
A segment can be built using the available attributes (e.g., demographics, purchase history, mobile app behavior, feature usage). For more details see the section "How to work with segmentation attributes".
Campaign¶
A campaign is a combination of one or more actions that creates a specific grouping of IDs (with the ability to enrich them with additional information).
Campaigns are configured in a canvas, where you place and connect elements to reach your desired results.
Campaigns can be:
- Run once, for single-time activities.
- Scheduled to run regularly, enabling automated customer flows.
Examples:
- Sending a push notification to members who joined today.
- Weekly sending a “thank you” game to customers who spent more than 100$ last week.
- Running a “Buy and Win” campaign where customers automatically receive a game after a qualifying purchase.
Access and permissions¶
Orchestration provides different levels of access for campaigns and segments. This allows you to control who can view and edit the work you create.
The following options are available:
- Public – All users can see and edit the campaign or segment.
- Public readonly – All users can see the campaign or segment, but cannot edit it.
- Restricted – Only users in the same department (based on Azure Active Directory group) as the creator have access.
- Private – Only the creator can access the campaign or segment.
